HANOVER Barbara L. Auchey, 63, entered into God's eternal care Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at her residence following a courageous 11-year battle with breast cancer. Heaven has gained another angel. She was the loving wife of Jack Auchey, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. Born March 27, 1950, in Hanover, she was the daughter of Iris (Baadte) Bollinger of Hanover and the late Edward A. Hagarman. Barb was a 1968 graduate of Hanover High School. She was employed by South Western School District, where she worked in the cafeteria as a cashier for several years. Barb was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, and the McSherrystown Moose Lodge #720, as well as the Women of the Moose. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, gardening, and vacations at the beach. She loved spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her husband and mother, Barb is survived by her daughter, Alisa Auchey of Hanover; her son, Jonathan Auchey of Hanover; her loving pet, Hunter; her brothers, Frank "Chip" Higgins of McSherrystown and Kenneth Bollinger of East Berlin; her sisters, Rebecca Laughman of New Oxford and Kim Peterman of Hanover; as well as numerous other family members. A funeral service to celebrate and remember Barb's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with her pastor, The Rev. Kathryn A. Schroeder, officiating. A time to view and share memories with the family will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover. Serving as pallbearers will be Tisha Leonard, Trina Beckner, Jennifer Luckabaugh, Zachary Shrader, Justin Peterman, and Jared Peterman.
