Samuel A. Miller Obituary
THOMASVILLE Samuel A. Miller, 96, passed away at his home with his family by his side on April 17, 2013. He was the loving husband of Margaret I. Messersmith who passed away in 2001. Samuel was born on August 17, 1916, and was the son of the late Edman H. Miller and Mollie (Hoover) Miller. He graduated from Spring Grove High School class of 1932. He worked for York International for many years and retired in 1980. He was a lifetime member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed farming, hunting, trapping and traveling. He is survived by his sons and their wives, Harold, Philip and Shirley, Arthur and Barbara, John and Michele and Glenn and Christine; his daughters and their husbands, Joyce and Harold Gable, Judy and George Churchfield, Brenda and Robert Hunt, Flo and Leland Wray and Esther and Dale Fuhrman; he is also survived by 36 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; his sister, Geneva Fuhrman Miller and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughters, Delores Kessler and infant Jean Linda Miller; his young son, Dale Laverne Miller; his sister, Esther Miller and his brothers, Henry, Roy and Edman Miller Jr. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Monday at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren, 9002 Orchard Rd., Spring Grove with Elders Dean Fahnestock, James Hoover, Kenneth Nell and George Churchfield officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service next to his wife in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Viewings will be held on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove and on Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren.
