BALTIMORE, MD Travis A. Rice, 27, passed away suddenly in Baltimore and flew home with the angels on Friday, May 3, 2013. Travis was born February 24, 1986 in Chambersburg. Travis attended Spring Grove High School and graduated from York County High School. He was a swimmer from the age of six and swam on the varsity swim team in high school. Travis was a licensed scuba diver and dove in the Florida Keys and off the shores of Mexico. He loved animals and especially his canine companion, Abby, who will miss him greatly. Travis was born in the country, but was a city boy at heart. He loved the cities of Baltimore and Washington, D.C., enjoying the camaraderie and love of a wealth of friends in those cities. Travis is survived by his father, Wayne B. Rice and companion, Carol Myers of McSherrystown; his mother, Rebecca E. (Wentz) Rice and companion Allen Huff of Codorus; his brother, Matthew J. Rice of Codorus; half sister, Trisha Tribby; paternal grandfather, Fred E. Wentz; paternal great-grandfather, Russell A. Wentz; and "step" siblings, Brian and Kelly Myers. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including special cousins, Annie and Levi. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Paul C. and Minnie Idella Rice; maternal grandmother, Pearl E. Wentz; special cousin, William O. Wentz; and half brother, Derick Rice. A service to celebrate and remember Travis' life will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with the Rev. Bonnie Wittier officiating. Burial will be in York Road Cemetery, Hanover. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
