YORK Burnell F. Lawrence, 83, of Spring Garden Twp., died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Hospice and Community Care in Mt. Joy. He was the husband of the late Shirley A. (Crouse) Lawrence. Burnell was born on December 14, 1929, in New Oxford, a son of the late Guy and Claudine (Groff) Lawrence. He retired as a supervisor from Cole Steel in 1994. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and a member of the American Legion Post 791 Shiloh. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 309 S. George St., York, with the Rev. Jonathan P. Sawicki as the celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Burnell is survived by a son, Brian J. (Wanda) Lawrence of Dover; a daughter, Susan E. (John) Manetta of Yardley; four granddaughters, Krista, Liz, Sara, and Brooke; a brother, Guy Lawrence of York; and a companion, Barbara Redding of Hanover. He was preceded in death by two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 224 St. Charles Way, Suite 200, York, PA 17402; or to the , 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
