Russell Shriver Obituary
NEW OXFORD Russell "Russ" Shriver, 83, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Mary Ann "Pickle" (Bevenour) Shriver, his wife of 60 years. Russ was born August 6, 1929, in Two Taverns, the son of the late Herbert L. and Ethel (Lemmon) Shriver. Russ was a 1947 graduate of New Oxford High School, and a life member of the New Oxford Social & Athletic Club, the McSherrystown Home and the Hanover Home. He was also a member of the East Berlin V.F.W., Catholic War Veterans in Bonneauville, and the Yeagertown Fire Co. In addition to his wife, Pickle, Russ is survived by two sons, Steve M. Shriver and his wife, Beverly, and Douglas A. Shriver and his wife, Barb, all of New Oxford; a daughter, Jo Anne Leipold of New Oxford; three grandchildren, Celeste Klinedinst, Gregory Groft, and Mary Shriver; seven stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren; 13 step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Leone Millhimes and Leah Miller, both of New Oxford, and a daughter-in-law, Vickie L. Shriver of New Oxford. He was predeceased by a son, Scott W. Shriver, and a brother, James E. Shriver. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Basilica, 30 Basilica Drive, Hanover, with the Rev. Lawrence McNeill officiating. Burial will be in Conewago Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, Inc., 302 Lincolnway West, New Oxford. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Kllinedinst, Ronnie Millhimes, Nelson Miller, Gregory Groft, Allen Klinedinst, and Gregory Kerchner. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Basilica.
