NEW FREEDOM Harry W. "Hap" Sprenkle, 79, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Charlotte W. (Weaver) Sprenkle. The couple celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on April 29, 2013. Viewings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday from the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, at Calvary Bible Church, 603 Wilson Ave., Hanover. The service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Pastor Michael Osladil officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Bethlehem Steltz Cemetery, Glen Rock. Born October 8, 1933, in Dallastown, York County, Hap was the son of the late Harry E. and Martha (Rearich) Sprenkle. Hap retired in 1998 following 26 years as a machine operator with the former Caterpillar, Inc. of York. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army, having served from 1956-1958. In addition to his wife, Charlotte, he leaves two daughters, Carol S. Scheuerman and her husband, Edward of Lancaster, and Lori Shultz and her husband, Timothy of Glenville; a son, Neal Sprenkle and his wife, Sharon of Seven Valleys; nine grandchildren, Kara Hallead and her husband, Zach, Nathan Sprenkle, Caleb Shultz and his wife, Jessica, Rebekah Neel and her husband, Andrew, Andrew Sprenkle and his wife, Stevi, Breanne Rogers and her husband, Robert, Phillip Sprenkle, and Grace and Faith Scheuerman; a great-granddaughter, Jaina Hallead; and two brothers, David Sprenkle of Hanover and Earl "Shorty" Sprenkle of Codorus. Hap was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lau, and a brother, Donald "Bud" Sprenkle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church c/o Missions, 603 Wilson Ave., Hanover, PA 17331.
