GETTYSBURG Donald E. Forsythe, 75, 1360 Hunterstown Road, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the York Hospital. Don is survived by his beloved companion of 22 years, Bette Boyce. He was born May 30, 1938, in Gettysburg, the son of the late Charles and Carrie Heintzelman Forsythe. Don was an independent local truck driver for many years. He also worked for Gabler Trucking and K&J Trucking. He was a lifelong musician, having played in the Don Forsythe and the Teardrops Band and the Nashville Review Band. Don was an avid hunter. Mr. Forsythe is also survived by two daughters, Sandy Malpass and her husband, Mark of Bel Air, Md., and Carol McBride and her husband, Steve of New Cumberland; a son, Robert Forsythe and his wife, Heidi of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three sisters, Arlene Keller of Gettysburg, Rosemary Carson of Greencastle, and Dorothy Stevens of California. He was predeceased by a brother, William Forsythe; and three sisters, Faye Toms, Joyce Hardy, and Evelyn Sanders. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 28, at 10:30 a.m. from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, with Fr. Mark Wilke officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Silver Run, Md. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday, June 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that in his memory each person perform an act of kindness for someone in need.
