HANOVER Ernest Reah Mowery, 95, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Hanover Hall. He was the loving husband of Loretta (Flora) Mowery, his wife of 49 years, who passed in May 2005. Born March 6, 1918, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late E. Reah and Alice (Hoverter) Mowery. Mr. Mowery was a WWII veteran who served in the Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Stars. Ernest was employed for 38 years at Armstrong in Lancaster. Mr. Mowery and his wife enjoyed going to auctions, sales, and buying and selling antiques. He also loved to watch and read about golf. Surviving are his son, Jeffrey Mowery and his wife, Kathy Ambrose of Hanover; his daughter, Diana Brackbill of Hanover; his grandson, Patrick Mowery and his wife, Tiffany of Cambridge, Md.; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Autumn Mowery of Cambridge, Md.; his sister, Helen Dermitt of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
