GETTYSBURG Carl Wayne Bell, 69, formerly of Abbottstown, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Gettysburg. He was the loving husband of Darlene M. (Leese) Bell, his wife of 50 years. Born November 11, 1943 in Hanover, Carl was a son of the late John Burnell and Grace Ann (Sager) Bell. Mr. Bell was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14, Hanover. He enjoyed bowling and competed in the South Hanover Bowling League for many years. Carl was employed with the Burndy Corporation, Hanover for 15 years, retiring in 2002. Additional survivors include a stepson, Francis Hartlaub, Jr., Littlestown; five siblings, Linda Staub, Hanover, Deanna Duncan, New Oxford, John Bell, Jr., Hanover, Jeffrey Bell, East Berlin and Tammy Schader, Columbia.; two step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bell. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Carl Bell will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA, with Pastor Fred Mummert officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in York Road Cemetery, Hanover, where full military honors will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
