HANOVER Earl M. Saltzgiver, 91, died Thursday, November 21, 2013, at his home. He was married to Marian G. Saltzgiver for 53 years. She preceded him in death. Born February 12, 1922, in York County, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Meckley) Saltzgiver. Earl was a graduate of Eichelberger High School. After serving in World War II in the European Theatre, he became an apprentice barber with Sterling's Barbershop. He served as an apprentice for two years, beginning in 1945. On June 28, 1948, he moved out on his own, charging $.50 for a haircut. Earl was still active in his profession as a barber at the time of his death. Surviving are one adopted son, Michael A. Saltzgiver of East Berlin; one daughter, Linda S. Henderson of Fayetteville, N.C.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate and remember Earl's life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at St. Paul's Dubs Lutheran Church, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover, with the Rev. David L. DeLong officiating. Burial will be the St Paul's (Dubs) Church Cemetery, Hanover. The family will receive friends and share memories from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Saltzgiver, Hayes Hughes, Paul Hughes, Benjamin Hughes, Mark Messinger, and Keith Henderson. Memorial contributions may be made to
