James A. Kopenhaver Obituary
HANOVER James A. Kopenhaver, 80, passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 28, 2013, at his home. He was the husband of Helen L. (Dane) Kopenhaver, to whom he was married 58 years. Born October 23, 1933, in Shamokin, he was the son of Alvin and Victoria (Dombrowski) Kopenhaver. James was retired from Miller Hanover Insurance, where he was the former owner. He was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, the Elks, and Knights of Columbus in Hanover. James was a veteran of the US Air Force, enjoyed his hunting camp and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife, are three children, Michael J. Kopenhaver and his wife, LouAnn of Hanover, Maureen Wickline and her husband, Nevin of East Berlin, and James J. Kopenhaver and his wife, Elizabeth of Hanover; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Lindsay, Kristin, Katherine, and Jessica Kopenhaver, Matthew, and Nathan, and Keith Wickline; and a brother, Robert Kopenhaver of Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Kopenhaver. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday at St. Vincent Church in Hanover, with the Rev. John D. Schmalhofer officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives will be received Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with prayers at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in remembrance of James may be made to St. Vincent Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, PA 17331; or to VNA/Hospice, 440 N.
