HANOVER Terrance L. "Terry" Elder, 77, entered into God's eternal care peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at his home. He was the husband of Loretta "Peg" Bennett-Elder for 20 years. Born November 19, 1936, in Hanover, he was the son of the late Lavere and Naomi (Kaehler) Elder. Terry was a brick and stone mason all his life, and retired from Lawver Masonry Co. He was a member of the BPOE Elks #763 in Hanover. Terry loved fishing, woodworking, gardening, and especially spending time with his family. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four children, Lisa Titus and husband, Tom of Gettysburg, and Cindy Garrett and husband, Kevin, Lynne Elder-Cantalupo, and Terry Elder, all of Hanover; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; three step great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Betty Houser, Charles Elder, and Donald Elder, all of Hanover, and Wayne Elder of York. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Elder. A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2014, at Murphy Funeral Home, 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, with the Rev. Dr. Bruce P. Bouchard officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
