It is with an extremely heavy heart that I hear about the passing of Earl. I knew Mr. Shoemaker from my childhood. He was a wonderful man and firefighter who left an imprint in my life. My fondest memory was the training he provided to me and my best friend Tony Jr. as junior volunteers, back in the day. Earl, your job here is complete. Job well done. May God lift you, your family, and friends up in this most difficult time and provide us strength and understanding. Amen.

Dear Theresa,

This comes as a great shock to all of us in the community . Earl was a great man which we all had a lot of fun together with growing up as a part of the old Ruth Ave. gang. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Theresa you and Earl have been great neighbors for the last 22yrs. I will miss his kind smile out back cooking on the grill with Katie close in tow. He was always there to lend a helping hand with a kind word and joke, and the first one out with his snow blower to lend a helping hand when we were buried several foot deep in snow. I know you will miss him greatly. In the last few years since the both of you retiring its been unusual not too see you two together. Although there is never enough time with your love ones; I'm glad you both had some extra time together and great vacation adventures to share before this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Your neighbor and friend,
"Darlyn"
