ARKPORT/CANASERAGA - Andrew W. Dennis, 75, passed away Saturday evening (Jan. 18, 2014) at his home.
Born in North Hornell on April 12, 1938, he was the son of the late Clair and Esther Lawrence Dennis. On March 11, 1961, he was married in South Dansville to Sharon Smalt, who survives.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Ann Ostrowski, Janet Young and Kathryn Stringing.
A resident of the Canaseraga area for most of his life, Andrew was a graduate of Canaseraga Central School. After school, he joined the United States Air Force
for two years.
Thereafter, along with his wife, they operated a dairy farm outside of Canaseraga until 2009. During this time, he served as justice of the peace for two years.
His family includes his two children, Derrick (Lorri) of Canaseraga, and Kelly (Jeff) Atherton of Jasper; his four grandchildren, Ryan, Whitney, Jade and Kayla; one soon-to-be grandchild; his two brothers, Donald (Linda) Dennis of Arkport and Carlton Dennis (Charlotte Malone) of Wellsville; his brother-in-law, Thomas Stringing of Webster; several cousins, including Brenda Drake of Arkport; and also nieces and nephews.
At Andrew's request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Bishopville Methodist Church on Friday (Jan. 24, 2014) at noon.
Those wishing can contribute in his memory to the Bishopville Church or the Canaseraga American Legion.
