Ernest A. Brown(1918 - 2013)

SAVONA - Ernest A. Brown, 95, passed away Friday (Oct. 4, 2013) at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital.

He was born on April 27, 1918, in Howard, N.Y., the son of the late Lloyd Brown and Euna Coots Brown. He married Evelyn Freeland in Canisteo, N.Y., on Dec. 14, 1940.

He retired from Ingersol Rand in 1980. He was a member of Savona Federated Church since 1949. He was a volunteer with the Savona Fire Department, honorary member and active oldest member for 15 years.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Evelyn, since March of 2002; and a brother, Carlton Brown.

He enjoyed hunting and riding bicycles, he was a good woodworker, and he was on the Savona Village Board. He took care of his wife for many years.

He is survived by his children, June (Charles) Perry of Watkins Glen, Everett (Sandra) Brown of Dayton, Ohio; grandchildren, Matt Brown of Dayton, Ohio, Kristin Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Cheryll (Eric) Navestad of Beavers Dam; great-grandson, Perry Navestad; sisters, Ercil Stevens of Painted Post, and Louisa Stewart of Deland, Fla.; many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are being observed on Tuesday (Oct. 8, 2013) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Savona Federated Church with his funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Nathan Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Seaman Cemetery, Savona, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Savona Federated Church or the Savona Fire Department. Arrangements are being handled by Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath.
