DANSVILLE - Vern E. Carney Jr., 65, passed away peacefully Friday (Dec. 27, 2013) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
Vern was born April 4, 1948 in Dansville, a son of Vern and Nina (Kanaval) Carney Sr. He was a veteran
of the United States Navy
, serving from 1969 to 1972. Vern married Kathleen Smith on May 9, 1969; she survives. Vern was a former employee at Kodak in Rochester, retiring in 2002. He also was the owner/operator of Par-Keys Lounge in Scottsburg since 1998.
Vern was a past commander of the Scottsburg American Legion; he was a member of the Conesus American Legion, the 40&8 Club, the Conesus Lake Motorcycle Rider Club and a past member of the VFW
Vern is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy; his children, Deb (Albert) Coburn and Jeff Carney (Becky Kimbel); four grandchildren, Taylor, Jordan, Coty and Marissa; one sister, Dorothy (Don) Perkins; two brothers, Art (Carol) Carney and Ed (Linda) Carney; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Friends may call Monday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday at Chamberlin-Baird Funeral Home, 73 Main St., Dansville, where funeral services with full military honors will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Scottsburg.
