ANGELICA - Emmett E. Rose, 85, of 4390 County Road 16, passed away peacefully Thursday (Dec. 12, 2013) at his daughter Cindy's house on North Street.
Born in Arcade, March 26, 1928, the son of Harvey and Leona (Casey) Rose, he was a lifelong area resident. Emmett served in the US Army from 1946-47 and 1950-53, and also the US Air Force from 1955-58. He was retired from the Village of Angelica as an electrician, and previously worked for Davey Tree. Emmett was a former volunteer fireman for Angelica, and was a familiar volunteer at the Allegany County Fairgrounds for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents; a sister Wilma Dibert; 3 brothers Harley, Arthur and Leon Rose; his longtime partner in life, Louise Cocco; and his former wife, Mildred Rose.
He is survived by three daughters, Melanie (David) Davis of Angelica, Lucinda (Michael) Lorow of Angelica, Leona Renee Cocco of Angelica; three sons, Leslie Rose of Angelica, Myron Rose of Angelica, and Dwayne (Connie) Rose of Angelica; his sister, Joanne (Adelbert) Warner of Angelica; his brother, David Rose of Angelica; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present from 6-7 p.m. Friday (Dec. 27, 2013), at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Avenue, Angelica, where funeral services and military honors will be held at 7 p.m., with the Rev. David Ford officiating.
