Mary Rose Daniels Obituary
HORNELL - Mary Rose Daniels, 94, formerly of 44 Davenport St., Hornell, died Monday morning (March 3, 2014) at Latta Road Nursing Facility, where she had resided for the past year.

Born in Hornell on June 22, 1919, and was the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Surra) DeGaetano.

Mary grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of St. Ann's School and later attended Hornell High School. She was employed for several years at the former Dolores Dress Factory and later at the former Cameo Shop in Hornell. For several years, Mary worked for her brother at DeGaetano's Shoe Store in Hornell.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann's Church where, in her younger years, she taught religious education classes. She was a life member of the G. Carducci Lodge (Sons of Italy). Mary enjoyed spending time in her kitchen, cooking, baking and was well known for her delicious cakes.

In 1941, she was married to Nicholas "Nick" Daniels, who died Oct. 31, 2001. Mary was also preceded in death by three brothers, Mateo DeGaetano, Matthew DeGaetano and Vincent "Doty" DeGaetano; and three sisters, Vincena Dodd, Yolanda Weidman and Domenica "Dee" Bridge.

Surviving are two daughters, Pam (Bill) Fenlon of Rochester, and Diane (Mike) Sufra of Rochester; a son, Mike (Karen) Daniels of Hornell; three sisters, Julie Delaney of Hornell, Frances "Fran" (Jim) Crain of Hornell and Ann Marie Potter of Hornell; six grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family of Mary Rose Daniels will receive friends on Thursday from 4–7 p.m. at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ann's Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mary's family requests that memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Ann's Academy, P.O. Box 446, Hornell, NY 14843. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
