HORNELL - H. Wallace "Wally" Hunter Jr., 70, of Hornell, formerly of Mount Morris, died Sunday (June 12, 2016) at Elderwood Nursing Home in Hornell.

He was born the son of Dr. H. Wallace and Dr. Nadene (Denison) Hunter Sr. on May 5, 1946 in West Brentwood, N.Y. Prior to his retirement, in 1995 he was employed by the Iroquois Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Batavia for nearly 20 years as a Rifle instructor. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church of Hornell, a Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association and the New York Schutzen Corps. He was a former member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Mount Morris.

He is survived by his mother, Dr. Nadene Denison Hunter, MD of Dansville; brothers and sisters Josiah Wallace Hunter of Colorado, Nadene Hunter of Dansville, Melville (Cynthia) Wallace Hunter of Dansville, Sara (Arby) Swift of Port Crane, N.Y., Rev. James Wallace (Jeaninne) Hunter of New Mexico, Helen Voysey of Arizona, Martha (Gerald) Stranford of New Mexico and Reverend Walcott Wallace (Teri) Hunter of Florida. Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Dr. H. Wallace Hunter, MD in 1965.

No prior calling. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 19 at 2 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church, Hornell. Rev. James Andrews officiating. Memorials may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church of Hornell, Iroquois Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America or the National Rifle Association.
