Frank A. Libordi Obituary
HORNELL - Frank A. Libordi, 92, formerly of of 64 Delaware Avenue, passed away Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 21, 2013) at Hornell Gardens, where he has resided since 2011.

Born in Hornell on May 1, 1921, he was a son of the late Sebastian and Rose Grillo Libordi. In 1953, he was married to the former Jovena Gallese, who predeceased him in 1960 after seven years of marriage. On Feb. 8, 1974, he was married at St. Ann's Church in Hornell to the former Lena Falzoi, who survives.

A lifelong resident of Hornell, Frank graduated from Hornell High School with the class of 1939 and also attended the Hemphill Diesel School on Long Island.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the 88th Division, Blue Devils and was stationed in North Africa and Italy. Frank attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star with clusters. He was instrumental in having Route 17 in Steuben County dedicated in memory of the U.S. Army 88th Division, Blue Devils.

Frank was employed as an electrician for the former Erie and Erie-Lackawanna Railroads, retiring from Conrail in 1976.

A member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, he was a communicant of St. Ann's Church, a member of the Cpl. J.J. Mooney VFW Post No. 2250 in Hornell for over 65 years, a life member of the G. Carducci Lodge, Sons of Italy and past president and former local chairman of the IBEW Electrician Union in Hornell for more than 12 years.
Body type RR: His family includes his wife of 39 years, Lena; his three sons, Charles (Patricia) Libordi of Hornell, Francis (Kristene) Libordi of North Hornell, and Thomas (Serene) Libordi of Hornell; his five grandchildren, Christopher Libordi, Kara (Brian) Cline, Aiden, Aleah and Avery Libordi; his one great-grandchild, Connor Cline; his two brothers, Anthony Libordi of Lodi, Calif., and Joseph (Linda) Libordi of Canisteo; his sister, Rosalie (John) Tobin of Hornell; also his nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as his extended family at Hornell Gardens.

Besides his parents and first wife, Frank was predeceased by his two sisters, Frances Libordi and Angeline Bertuzzi.

To honor his wishes there will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to meet his family at St. Ann's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, followed by military honors. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to St. Ann's Academy, P.O. Box 446, Hornell, N.Y. 14843.
