Jeanette Maier, 81, of Weston, died peacefully surrounded by her children on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Lili Assisted Living in Rothschild.
She was born April 22, 1932, to the late Frank and Anastacia Obermeier. She was raised in Halder, WI. She married Richard "Dick" Maier on Feb. 22, 1955 in San Diego, CA. He preceded her in death in May of 2010.
Jeanette is survived by her seven children, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; Richard (Lynn) Maier, their children, Lori and Ryan; Shelly (Christian) Ammon, their children Brook, Myles and Olivia; Lionel (Mary Jo) Maier, their children Tessa (Lance) and Logan; Dawn (Greg) Mariani; Jay (Barbara) Maier, their children, Amber, Christopher, Amber, Ashley and Kaci; Cynthia (Todd) Olson, their children, Larissa and Ethan; and Lisa (Marty) Mullen. Jeanette is also survived by her sister, Susan (Michael) Drengler, sister-in-law Lois Obermeier and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, her parents, her brother, Vernon Obermeier and an infant sister, Bernadine.
Jeanette was a homemaker and worked numerous part-time jobs throughout her life. Jeanette was a life-time member of the VFW
Burns Post No. 388 Ladies Auxiliary. Her volunteer services include the Circle of Joy for both St. Mark's and St. Teresa Catholic Churches. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and working on genealogy.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 602 Military Rd., Rothschild. Rev. Allan Slowiak will celebrate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Private family burial will take place at a later time at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kronenwetter. Brainard Funeral Home - Everest Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
