Mark W. Welsh, 49 of Wausau, died very unexpectedly while enjoying his new found hobby - snowshoeing, on Rib Mountain.

Mark was born on March 26, 1963 in Agana, Guam M.I., son of William and Susan (Allds) Welsh. He worked at Greenheck Fan Corp., in various departments for 32 years, most recently Senior Product Development Engineer. He was a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Mark was an active member of the National Ski Patrol at Granite Peak for over 20 years. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed bicycling, hunting, and most recently snowshoeing. Often times Mark would take his special canine companions Cheyenne and Louie on the snow hill for hiking and snowshoeing.

Mark was a very proficient woodworker, making special things of beauty. He had a great mechanical and industrial ability. He was always working on cars with his son Austin, and nephew, Nick. Mark was a member of the Boy Scouts of America throughout his life. He became an Eagle Scout in 1980 and was Scout Master for Troop 465 while his sons were growing up. He also worked for Camp Tesomas for several summers.

Mark is survived by his children, Austin Welsh, Eau Claire, WI, Chloe Welsh, Wausau, WI, and Marcus Welsh, Wausau, WI; his parents, William and Susan Welsh, Harshaw, WI; his former wife and the mother of his children, Roberta Welsh, Wausau, WI; brothers, Douglass (Jennifer) Welsh, Weston, WI, John (Karen) Welsh, and their children Kailey and Kyle, all of Mosinee; sister Christine (Bryan) Kujawa, Vancouver, WA and her children Nicholas Schroedel, and Sasha (Cory) Kesy, and their children Emma and Gavin, all of Mosinee, WI; three aunts and many cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St., Weston. Rev. Raymond Connor will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Brainard Funeral Home, 5712 Memorial Ct., Weston, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday.
