H.P. Reese Obituary

H. P. (Phil) Reese, was born July 17, 1924 in El Dorado, Kansas, to Holice and Ila Reese. The family moved to Dewey, Oklahoma in 1926 and Phil lived with his grandparents, W. P. and Mary Webber until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943. On September 3, 1944 he married Geneva Estes. They moved to Inglewood, California where Phil was employed at the Inglewood Fire Department. They later returned to Bartlesville to make their home and he was employed by Bartlesville Fire Department, retiring there in 1970 with the rank of Assistant Chief. During his career in Bartlesville he was elected President of the Oklahoma State Fire Fighter's Association and after his retirement, also elected President of the Oklahoma State Retired Fire Fighter's Association.
Phil and Geneva worked in a volunteer program of their church called "RV Volunteers" traveling all over the U.S. to work on Teen Challenge Centers, children's homes, and churches to repair, maintain, or build new edifices, saving the church organizations millions of dollars.
Phil was an active member of First Assembly of God Church, and, along with Bill Estes and Frank Benners, he accompanied on rhythm guitar the GospelAires Trio consisting of his wife, Geneva, AnnaBelle (Drury), Rosetta Estes and later Evelyn Craighead.
Phillip really enjoyed being Wagon Master for a travel company that led motor homes through Mexico. He and Geneva traveled to all 50 states and Canada and Mexico and he never lost his desire to travel.
In 2007, he and Geneva finished and published the story of much of their life titled "Movin' On" which was an appropriate name because of all their traveling and moving to different homes
He has now made his final move and wants to encourage all of you to meet him at that glorious place we call heaven.
Survivors include: Wife, Geneva, of the home; son, Harold and wife Hazel, Michigan; son, Steve and wife Marsha, California; Eugene Craighead and Rosetta Estes, of Bartlesville; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; many Webber cousins some of whom he lived with during his growing years; and many loved friends. He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, and precious grandparents, the W. P. Webbers, who helped raise him and by his namesake grandson, Jeffrey Phillip.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 4, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Walker Brown Funeral Home 4201 Southeast Nowata Road Bartlesville, Oklahoma
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, at 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church 900 South Dewey Bartlesville, Oklahoma
