Benny Owens(1947-2013)

Benny Owens, 65, of Bartlesville, departed from life on Friday, June 21 after a long battle with cancer.
Benny was born on October 6, 1947 in Skiatook, Oklahoma to John Quincy and Virginia Owens. He was the fifth of twelve children. Benny graduated from Barnsdall High School in 1967 and later attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah where he met and married his wife of 42 years, Mary Anderson Owens.
Benny was employed by the Oklahoma Beverage Company for eleven years and later employed in the Elevator Industry for thirty years, working for Westinghouse/Schindler Elevator Company.
Benny enjoyed spending time with his family, adventurous activities such as four wheelers, motorcycles, and fast cars. He also enjoyed restoring old cars and motorcycles and traveling with his wife and family both inside the United States and several other countries. Benny often enjoyed visiting his favorite vacation spot of Cozumel, Mexico.
Benny leaves behind his wife Mary, four sons and their wives; Steve and Zabrina Owens of Bartlesville, Eric and Melissa Owens of Barnsdall, Scott and Jesseca Owens of Gypsum Colorado, Travis and Jill Owens of Owasso. He also leaves behind six grandsons and one granddaughter; Christian, Landon, Kendal, Mackenzie, Christian Wayne, Orion, and Kali.
Surviving siblings include; Barbara Taylor of Barnsdall, Johnnie Mae Roberts of Wynona, Iona Hudleston of Tonkawa, Bill Owens of Tulsa, Danny Owens of Bartlesville, Ruby Martin of Sand Springs, Wanda Todd of Joplin, JoAnn Selvidge of Barnsdall, Harry Owens of Barnsdall and Amey Watters of Bartlesville.
Benny also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, several in-laws and a longtime friend, Rick Henry. Benny was preceded in death by his parents John Quincy and Virginia Owens, and his brother Jerry Owens.
Benny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Benny will be laid to rest at Ethel Reese Cemetery in Barnsdall on Tuesday at 2pm during a graveside service. Funeral Services are provided by Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville. Friends who wish may sign the online guest book and leave condolences at
