Carol Joan (Crossland) French(1942-2013)

Carol Joan Crossland was born July 15, 1942, in Monett, Missouri, to Elmer and Agnes (Knecht) Crossland. In high school she was a baton twirler and loved marching with the band. Carol married Jim French August 13, 1960. She was a beloved mom to three children, Jim, Angela and John. She attracted neighbor hood kids with the cakes she decorated for birthday parties. Carol was an avid gardener; she loved trying to grow new varieties of trees and plants and divided plants she had to share with others. She was a beekeeper; she enjoyed learning about her hobby in a local beekeeping group. She was a crafter. She tried many types of crafts from soap-making and rubber stamping to cake decorating and crocheting. Neighbors, family, and friends were frequent recipients of hand crafted gifts such as bath crystals, soap, and greeting cards stamped and scripture and words of encouragement. Carol was a valued employee; she retired from ABB, formerly Applied Automation, after 28 years.
Carol considered it a blessing to volunteer for Hospice and maintained relationships with families of patients for whom she had provided support. Even before working with Hospice, she took home-cooked meals and encouragement to countless families experiencing illness or loss.
She was "Meme" to nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She always had a hug and their favorite foods ready for when they visited. She loved attending soccer matches, basketball games, and concerts.
Most importantly Carol was a Christian and prayed that everyone around her would come to know Jesus. Carol was active in the Tyro Christian Church, helping in the nursery and preparing food for events.
