Carolyn (McKinney) Goetzinger(1937-2014)

Carolyn (McKinney) Goetzinger was born August 17, 1937 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and died February 27, 2014 in Tulsa, Ok. Carolyn grew up in Tulsa, graduating from Will Rogers High School in 1955. She received both a bachelor's and master's degree in education from Northeastern Oklahoma State University and returned to Tulsa to begin her teaching career at McClure Elementary.
In July of 1968, Carolyn married John Goetzinger and settled in Bartlesville. After staying home to raise her young children, Carolyn resumed her teaching career at Richard Kane Elementary and later Central Middle School of Bartlesville, retiring in 2000. Carolyn was a member of Grace Community Church of Bartlesville. During the last years of Carolyn's life she resided at University Village in Tulsa. Despite many health difficulties later in life, Carolyn rejoiced in the hope of her Savior.
Carolyn was known for her wit and passion to see students learn and excel. She loved and greatly enjoyed her family, especially enjoying seeing her grandchildren sing, dance and perform. One of the greatest honors of Carolyn's life was being inducted into the 2nd class of the Bartlesville Teacher Hall of Fame in 2011.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her father, Charles McKinney (1980), and mother, Virginia Woodson (2001), and husband John (2007). She is survived by son Doug and wife Stacee and grandchildren Shelbee and Rylee of Oklahoma City; daughter Karen Murrah and husband Matthew and grandchildren Molly, Daniel, and Mae of Dallas; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Jane McKinney of Tulsa; step brother and sister-in-law Tim and Caralee Woodson of Tulsa; step- brother Ron Woodson of Tulsa, sister-in-law and brother-in-law J.L. and Maydonna States of Dover, OK and many other friends and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held to honor Carolyn's life at 11:00 am Monday, March 3 at University Village, 8555 S. Lewis Ave., Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, please make gifts to The Salvation Army. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
