After a courageous four year battle with pancreatic cancer, Sue Sharp passed away surrounded by her family Oct. 7, 2012.
Sue was born Sept.17, 1946, in Shidler, Okla., the youngest of nine children born to John and Zelma Ross.
Her greatest pleasure in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved the outdoors, believing it was the greatest place to hear and see God's artwork. She enjoyed camping and loved working in her garden. Cooking and baking were a passion of hers, and her dream was to own and operate her own restaurant.
Her careers included being a donut maker, then working at the Eaton Dairy Farm in Grainola, Okla., Hammer's Foodliner grocery store, Shidler High School as a secretary, Phillips Petroleum Co. in Shidler and in Goldsmith, Texas. After retiring in 1995 from Phillips, she worked as a construction and painter's helper at her son, Travis', design firm. She said the most rewarding of these was working around the kids at Shidler Schools. She was a graduate of Shidler High School Class of 1964.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Jack Sharp; her children, Travis Eaton and his partner, Jeff Oien, Tobie Eaton and wife Tracy, Kelly Eaton and husband Jesse Ehrlich; two step-children Shari Weber and husband Jay of Ponca City, and Steve Sharp and wife Kim of Wichita, Kan.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Matthew Ehrlich and wife Katie, Kameron Eaton, Dylan Nash, Kallie Corlett and Kathryn Sharp.
Sue is also survived by her brother Bob Ross and wife Jaunita of Kaw City; sister Betsy Roe of Grove, Okla.; sister Kathryn Mikeman and husband Randall of Oklahoma City; mother-in-law Isobel Sharp of Bartlesville; and sisters-in-law Corrine Ross, Virginia Ross, Emily Hayes and Freda Ross, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend, Donna Loveall of Newkirk, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Sherman Ross, Donny Ross, John Ross and Winton Ross; sister Ruth Shelton; and brothers-in-law Horton Shelton and James Roe.
Services were to be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the First Christian Church in Shidler, with burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City, Okla. with Pastor Doug Scott and Pastor Al Rathburn officiating.
Donations may be made to the First Christian Church, P.O. Box 72, Shidler, OK 74652 in her name.
