Donna Jean McDonald, age 85 and life-long resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013.
Donna Jean Short was born on April 9, 1928 in Bartlesville. She was the daughter of Joe Short and Verna (Nealis) Short. She received her education in Bartlesville, graduating from Bartlesville High School.
On July 11, 1946, Donna and Richard Lee "Rich" McDonald were united in marriage. Mr. McDonald was a partner with his brother and father in the founding of McDonald Auto Parts. Later in Rich's life he opened Rich's Auto Parts in Bartlesville. He preceded Donna in death on August 6, 2004.
Donna was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She and Rich had three sons, Don, Dick, and Danny, as well as another who was like a son, Edgar "Ed" Gordon. She was a member of the Oak Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed tending her plants and garden and loved birds and animals. Her hobbies included ceramics and quilting. What gave her the most enjoyment in life, however, was her love of God and her family. For a time she held Bible studies in her home and also taught Sunday school throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rich; her son, Donald Lee McDonald, and her brother, Jack Short.
Survivors include her sons, Richard D. McDonald and his wife, Brenda, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Danny J. McDonald of Ochelata, Oklahoma and Edgar "Ed" Gordon and his wife, Janie, of Bartlesville; six grandchildren, Cheri McDonald, of Bartlesville, Michelle Coke of Florida, Kevin McDonald of Tulsa, Kim McDonald of Tulsa, Ryan McDonald of Bartlesville, and Kayla McDonald also of Bartlesville; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jay Short of Helen, Georgia.

Private family services will be held for Mrs. McDonald. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, Bartlesville.
