Dorothy Lee Tate, 84, widow of William J. (Bus) Tate Jr., resident of Nowata, died at her home October 18, 2012. Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the First Church of God in Nowata with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Interment will be in the Oglesby Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff-Nowata Funeral Home.
Dorothy Lea (Weaver) Tate was born October 8, 1928 in Oglesby, OK. She was the daughter of Luge and Laura (Pugh) Weaver. She grew up and received her education in the Oglesby-Ramona area.
Dorothy was married to William J. Tate, Jr. on June 5, 1946. They made their home in Oglesby for 32 years before moving to Nowata. Dorothy was a homemaker for most of her life, working as a caregiver after her children were grown. She was also a volunteer for the Oglesby School 4-H groups as well as helping the school with social functions when needed.
She is survived by two sons; Bob and wife Sally (Morgan) of Ramona, Bill and wife Betina (Dye) of Nowata, four daughters; Kathy and husband Chester Gagan, Waunita Grossman, Nellene and husband J.P. Morgan, and Diana Shivel, all of Nowata. Thirteen grandchildren; Mandy, Robbie, Michael, Sheila, Linda, Tommy, Dennis, Chrystal, Greg, Sarah, Elizabeth, William and Amber, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, David Carl and wife Naomia Tate of Grove, one sister-in-law Hazel Reeder of Nowata and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, one son Dennis Ray, her parents Luge and Laura Weaver and infant twin, Nellie Marie.
