Passed away peacefully on the morning of October 24th, 2013. Dorothy Parsons was born Dorothy Louise Powell in Wetumka Oklahoma in 1924 to William Marvin and Lula May Powell. Dorothy married Robert (Bob) Parsons in 1954, and together they raised two children and traveled the world in Bob's work with Phillips Petroleum before returning to Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her brother Kenneth Powell, and her sisters Alyne Whitfield, Thelma Jean Stuckey and Ramona Powell. She is survived by her brother Robert Powell and her children Wesley Parsons and Tina Jefferies, as well as her grandchildren Kevin Parsons, Steven Parsons, Jimmy Parsons and Nicholas Parsons and Andy Jefferies, Robert Jefferies, and Ian Jefferies, and her great grandson Aidan Jefferies.
Dorothy joined her sisters in Washington, D.C., working for Phillips during World War II. She was selected as Miss District of Columbia. in 1945 and was a finalist in that year's Miss America pageant. She later modeled for the Harry Conover agency in New York City and acted on Broadway.
Dorothy particularly treasured renewing old friendships upon her return to Bartlesville. She was an avid and successful golfer and bridge player. She was a member of the Hillcrest Country Club, where she spent many hours pursuing her favorite pastimes.
Dorothy was a beloved wife and mother. She will be greatly missed.
