Floyd Lorrin Walker died on September 27, 2012 at the age of 97.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Christ United Methodist Church in Tulsa with Rev. Jim Stillwell officiating. Interment will be in the Sinnett Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the East Cross United Methodist Church, 820 S. Madison Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.
Floyd was born July 23, 1915 in La Plata, New Mexico to Clark and Mary Walker. After graduating from Pawnee High School in 1931 at the age of 15, he worked odd jobs until 1936 when he went to work for Peters Drug Store. He married Virginia Cunningham on July 26, 1939. They moved to Bartlesville in 1943 and he worked for Phillips Petroleum Company until he retired in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army from February 1944 until August 1946 in Birmingham, Alabama using his computer skills to process payroll for the Army. He was a charter member of East Cross United Methodist Church.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia, of 70 years; son, Lorrin F. Walker; grand-daughter, Jennifer Gray; brothers, Bruce Walker, Ray Walker and Charles Walker; and sisters, Ruby Eldrige and Pearl Donaldson.
Floyd is survived by his son, James and wife Linda of Tulsa, OK; daughter-in-law, Barbara Walker of Owasso, OK; brothers, Carl Walker of Santa Fe, NM, Elton Walker of Stillwater, OK, David Walker of Wewoka, OK and Leslie Walker of Seminole, OK; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved him.
