Funeral services for Gerald F. Warner, age 93 of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden, Nebraska. John Petersen will officiate, with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, Nebraska.
Military Honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post #7603 and American Legion Post 170, both of Tilden.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to services at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden.
Gerald died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at his home.
Gerald F. Warner, son of Wendell T. and Wilda V. (Rice) Warner, was born July 9, 1920, at Oakdale, Nebraska. Gerald attended and later graduated from Oakdale High School. On September 10, 1944, he was married to Naomi G. Milford at the Army Air Force Base in Eagle Pass, Texas. The couple welcomed two children into their lives by adoption: Kim and Kelli.
Gerald served his country during World War II
, serving in the Air Force from August 1942 until receiving his Honorable Discharge in February of 1946. After leaving the service, Gerald went back to his hometown of Oakdale, Nebraska, where he farmed for a time, then moved his family to Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a place Gerald and Naomi would call home the rest of their lives. While living in Bartlesville, Gerald worked in the research center of Conoco/Phillips Oil Company until his retirement.
Gerald was a member of the East Cross Methodist Church in Bartlesville. In his spare time, he took much delight in working around the house, mowing the yard, and working on cars. Gerald died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at his home in Bartlesville, at the age of 93.
Gerald is survived by his son, Kim R. Warner of Norfolk, Nebraska; granddaughter, Karessa R. James and her fiancée, Joshua Chopra of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 63 years, Naomi G. Warner (on February 15, 2007); a daughter, Kelli Rhew; his parents; and siblings.
