Mr. Harvey L. Stark, 91, of Dewey, died at 11:27 P.M. on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Claremore Veterans Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Stark will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday at the Harvestime Assembly of God Church in Dewey with Rev. Charles McKnight officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the Ceremonial Detail of the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Funeral services and interment will be directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Stark family will receive guests at the Stumpff funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 491, Dewey, Oklahoma, 74029.
Mr. Stark was born at Dover, Arkansas on December 20, 1922 to Emmitt Lee and Martha Ann (LaRue) Stark. He was married to Derilla Inez Boze on November 21, 1942 in Benton, Missouri. Harvey served in World War II
in the European Theatre and in the Battle of the Bulge in 87th Army Infantry Division from February 1943 to October 1945. Harvey and Derilla had five children. He was employed with Keener Oil Company for 15 years and then for Chevalley Mayflower Moving Company as a truck driver until his retirement. He was a Life Member of the DAV in Dewey, a member of the Tuxedo Assembly of God and had attended First Assembly of God in Dewey.
Mr. Stark is survived by his wife, Derilla Inez Stark of Dewey, three sons, James Odus Stark of Enid, Donald Ray Stark of Harrisonville, Missouri and Bobby Joe Stark of Euless, Texas, one daughter, Sharon Kay Kennedy of Conway, Arkansas. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, and is survived by three brothers, Odus Eugene Stark of Cordell, Ok., Charles Ray Stark of Jamestown, Wisconsin and Billy Fay Stark of Magazine, Arkansas. Harvey was preceded in death by his son, Harvey Lee Jr., his father, Emmitt Lee Stark, his mother, Martha Ann Stark, a brother, Robert Stark, a daughter-in-law, Beverly June Stark and two sisters, Evelyn Wells and Buena Thompson.
