Helen Grace Chamberlain Brock was born August 23, 1930, in Golden, Colorado to Clayton Edward and Atha Alice (McGinnis) Chamberlain. She was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation, grew up and attended grade schools in Amarillo and Pampa Texas. She went on her first date with her future husband Joe at the age of 13, attending a picture show together. Helen was a majorette in her high school band and was an all-state volley ball player which she was always proud of. She and Joe eloped during their senior year and graduated from Lefors High School in 1950. They spent their early married years in the Texas Panhandle where their six children were born.
She embraced motherhood, active with her children in schools, sports and Cub Scouts as Den Mother. As the children grew up she went to work outside the home becoming a beautician working for several years in Bartlesville where she formed life-long friendships that she cherished.
After Joe's retirement from Phillips they spent a great deal of time at their lake place fishing and catching crawdads and tadpoles with her grandsons. She was an avid bridge player and she and Joe played in a couples group for over 30 years, blessing them with friendships that enriched their lives.
Helen was a loving mother and an amazing "G'Maw". Her presence always made things more fun and alive for those around her. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Helen is survived by five children. Her sons Walter Ray Brock and his wife Noriko of New York, Alan Dee Brock, Kim Ed Brock and Jerry Wayne Brock of New Orleans, La and daughter Mechelle Diane West and her husband David Bobbitt of Dallas, TX. Her grandchildren William James West of Edmond, OK and Derek Ray West of Stillwater, OK, Motoi Yabe Brock of Koriyama, Japan and Hanae Yabe of Tokyo, Japan. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Dorothy Worley, her husband Joe in 2008 and a son Joe Patrick Brock in 2005.
