Joseph Ray Kenton, 85, a resident of Bartlesville, died at his home on August 9, 2013. He was born August 8, 1928 to Thomas S. Kenton and Mary Ferne (Wilson) Kenton in Tulsa, OK. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in May of 1946, and enlisted in the United States Navy
for a two year term. In 1949 he entered the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a Masters Degree in Chemistry in 1953.
He married Dorothy Pauline Trostle on June 5, 1953, in Tecumseh, OK. They lived in Lawrence KS., Texas City, TX, and Tulsa, OK. and Bartlesville, OK. where he was employed as a research chemist. He was the holder of several patents from American Oil Company in Texas City, TX. and ConocoPhillips in Bartlesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and only brother. He is survived by his wife, Pauline, and two sons with their wives, David and Dian in Dewey, and Stephen and Lynne in Norman, Ok., grandchildren, Christy Ruegamer, Jason Ruegamer, Leah (John) McGaha, Leslie Keller-Kenton, Jeremy (Gina) Kenton, Lessa Keller-Kenton, and Michelle Kenton, and three great-grandchildren Griffin, Grant, and Sarina.
Joe liked to travel. He and Pauline visited all the 48 continental states. When he retired they spent many months traveling through Europe, Canada and the United States. They also participated in Friendship Force Exchanges with people in Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.

A Memorial service will be held at the East Cross United Methodist Church on Thursday August 15, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
