Mary Jane (Eden) Misemer, 88 of Bartlesville was called home by her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 18th 2013.
Mary was born on January 31, 1924 in Ramona, OK to Elwood & Verna (Pharris) Eden. There she was raised on the family's dairy farm. She received her education at Ramona, graduating from high school in 1942. After graduation she attended and graduated from a formal cosmetology program.
She then decided to pursue a career in nursing and there she found her niche. She used her gifting for many years to aid in the caring and healing of the many people she took care of at the old Memorial hospital, Jane Phillips hospital and local nursing homes in Bartlesville until retiring in 1982. She was always commended and remembered as an exceptional nurse.
On October 12, 1949 she was united in marriage to Merle B. Misemer in Neosho, Missouri, making their home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They were married for 39 wonderful years and had 3 children. Together with their children, they enjoyed camping and traveling to many special places in the United States.
Mary was a member of Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church since 1993. She was an extraordinary woman who demonstrated love and kindness to everyone in her life. Her strength, endurance and faith were an inspiration to all. She will always be remembered for her delicious country cooking, beautiful sewing and being able to play the piano by ear.
Mary loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, GG as her great-grandson called her. She leaves many loving memories with her children Marvin Misemer, Molly Harmon, Martha Witzel and husband, Preston all of Bartlesville; four grandchildren, Jackie Misemer of Oklahoma City, Sarah Smith, Laurie Harmon and fiancé Michael Martinez, and Katie Harmon of Bartlesville; great-grandson, Christopher Scott of Bartlesville and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband sister, Mildred Abel and brother, Pharris "Dick" Eden, son-in-law, William "Bill" Harmon and grandson, Christopher William Harmon.
Graveside services for Mary will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Paul Rummage of the Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church officiating and directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Honorary casket escorts will include Rick Rubicam, Roger Evans, Jackie Misemer, Marvin Misemer, Preston Witzel, Michael Martinez and Phil Bjugstad.
Visitation with family will be from 6 - 8 PM, Monday, January 21 at Stumpff Funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to In Sight Ministries, A Caring Center for orphans in Zimbabwe, Africa.
