Nolan W. Higbee(1923-2012)

Nolan W. Higbee passed away on Oct. 20 at the Veterans Center in Claremore, OK. Mr. Higbee was born on April 27, 1923 to Louis W. and Sally (Bowling) Higbee in Lexington, OK, the 9th of 10 children.
Mr. Higbee served in the Army from January of 1943 until he was honorably discharged in March of 1946.
Returning to Oklahoma after serving in the Army, Mr. Higbee met and married Vivian Higbee in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where they made their home until Mr. Higbee was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in Thrall, Kansas. During that time Nolan and Vivian had two children. In 1963, Mr. Higbee was transferred by Phillips to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he continued his employment until retirement in Feb. 1984.
Mr. Higbee had a stroke in January of 1997 that required him to move to Medicalodge Nursing Home where he lived until Oct. of 2011. At that time, Mr. Higbee was moved to the Veterans Center in Claremore, OK.
Mr. Higbee is survived by his son, Gordon R. Higbee and his wife Laura; Daughter, Barbara (BJ) Birmingham and her longtime gentleman friend, Ron. One grandson, John Higbee and one great granddaughter, Delilah Jamie Higbee all of Bartlesville.
Mr. Higbee is preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian in June of 1995. He is also preceded in death by his father and mother and by sisters, Louise, Jewel, and Delma; and by brothers, Carl Raymond, Lloyd, Pat, Swain, and Walter.
A memorial services will be November 1st at 2:00 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel.
