Mr. Stephen Orland "Steve" Blass, 68, died at 11:45 P.M. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at his home in Bartlesville.
Funeral services for Mr. Blass will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Spirit Church in Bartlesville with Pastor Darryl Wootton officiating. Interment will be in the Oglesby Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Spirit Church Reeder Fund, 900 S. Dewey, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74003.
Steve was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on May 24, 1946 the son of Orland Riley Blass and Dorothy Maybell (Connor) Blass. He grew up and received his education in Arkansas City, Kansas and graduated from high school there. He was married to Penny Leah Porter on November 1, 1968 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Since the early 1970's they have made their home in the Bartlesville area in Washington and Nowata counties. Mr. Blass had been involved in road construction with M.J. Lee Construction Company and then employed as an equipment operator for the City of Bartlesville until his retirement in 2003. He was an active collector and trader of western items and memorabilia. He also kept close track of his friends and attended the Spirit Church in Bartlesville.
Steve is survived by his wife, Penny Blass of the home, one son, Kevin Wayne Dedmon of Bartlesville, two daughters, Amanda Ladene Fisher and husband Brent of Bartlesville and Kashli Ann Porter of Russellville, Arkansas, one brother, John Blass and wife Sally of Washington, Missouri, two sisters, Mary Ann Lewis and husband Chuck of Louisville, Kentucky and Sara Lambring of Bartlesville, five grandchildren, Kendal Veach, Kaiden Fisher, Kamryn Fisher, Echo Stegeman and Lily Self, and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
