Wanda Jane (Graham) Newman, 88, died at 9:10 PM on Monday June 3, 2013 at the Forrest Manor Nursing center in Dewey.
At her request no services will be held. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mrs. Newman was born on July 12, 1924 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Clarence Elmo and Florence Darlene (Carlson) Graham. She attended Horace Mann School for her 1st and 2nd grades. She then moved with her family to a farm two miles north of Copan, Oklahoma and continued her education at Copan Schools. After graduating from Copan Schools she later attended Bartlesville Business College. She was married to Dean Newman in 1946, and they made their home in Bartlesville, and she and Dean traveled extensively throughout the United States with their good friends. They loved the beauty, music, culture, food, and history of the Hawaiian Islands and made many trips there. She was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company as a data recorder supervisor, retiring from Conoco Phillips after 42 years. Mrs. Newman enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening. She loved going hunting with her Father, who always called her Jane. Mrs. Newman was a member of the East Cross United Methodist Church in Bartlesville. Dean preceded her in death in 2002, and in addition to him she was preceded in death by her parents Clarence E. and Florence D. Graham, and by a sister Grace Graham Edwards, and her brother in law Dean Edwards.
Mrs. Newman is survived by a nephew, Ted Edwards of Vinita, Oklahoma, and her close friend Ruth Ann Scott of Copan.
