Wanda Marlene (Peachee) Perkins(1915-2012)

Wanda Perkins, age 97, a long-term resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and a resident of Sherman, Texas for the past eight years, passed away on December 29, 2012. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Wanda was born in Chattanooga, Oklahoma on November 22, 1915, the daughter of Oliver Bruce Peachee and Cora Spaur Peachee. She graduated from Enid High School where she met her future husband, David Albin Perkins. They each had a lead role in the school drama production of "Man or Mouse" and that ultimately led to their marriage on June 13, 1936. Shortly after their marriage they settled in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where David worked for Phillips Petroleum Company. Wanda worked as a Secretary at the First Christian Church.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents Bruce and Cora Peachee, by her husband, David Albin Perkins, by her brother, Donald Peachee, by her son, Richard Perkins, and her grandson, Max Perkins.
She is survived by her children David Donald Perkins and his wife, Nan, Nancy Ann Russell and her husband, Jim, and her daughter-in-law Marsha. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild along with nieces, nephews, and friends.
Many members of the Renaissance Community of Sherman and of the Sherman First United Methodist Church befriended Wanda and were good friends for the last years of her life.
The family especially wants to thank the staff of the Grayson County Home Hospice Association and Cheryl and Annie for the care and comfort they brought to Wanda's last days.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 17 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 520 S. Osage Street in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Dr. David Parsons will officiate.
There will be also be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19th at the First United Methodist Church, 401 N. Elm Street in Sherman, Texas.
