Willie Fay (Haraughty) Riggs(1927-2014)

Mrs. Willie Fay (Haraughty) Riggs, our beloved mother, went to meet her savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 31, 2014. She was born July 5, 1927 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to William L. and Gertrude L (Wellner) Haraughty. She received her education at Putnam City School System in Oklahoma City, graduating with the class of 1945. On December 2, 1945 she married Hubert Royce Riggs after being acquainted for only one week, a love that lasted 65 years. She was a member of Grace Epworth United Methodist Church in Bartlesville. She was a dedicated homemaker for their 3 children. Willie Fay loved canning pickles & beets with her mother, sewing for her children and grandchildren, making candy for friends & neighbors. She helped Royce with the family trucking business. She loved being "Grandma".
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Georgia & her husband Jake Sitton, sister CharlAnn & her husband Walt Stewart.
She is survived by her children, Larry Riggs & wife Kathy of Kansas City, Kansas, Ernest (Bud) Riggs & wife Cathy of Mannford, daughter Melda (Riggs) Howard & husband Gary of Bartlesville, 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Billie (Riggs) Haxel of Bethany, 12 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces & nephews, and a host of friends.
Special thank you to her church family, to the loving staff, nurses, & aides who took care of her for the past 3 years at Bartlesville Health & Rehab, to Rivercross Hospice & staff, Dr. Matthew West & staff, and Dr. Mark Goldberg & staff.
Services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the New Hope United Methodist Church at 11600 N. Council Rd. in Oklahoma City with Rev. Paul Overholt of Bartlesville officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery 7801 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory of Bartlesville. The family will receive friends at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Tuesday February 4, 2014, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
