Francis Blevins Obituary

Francis McKinley Blevins Jr., known to his friends as Mack, and his grandchildren as Papa Mack, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 3, 2012 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma at the age of 88. Mack was born in Bartlesville on March 23, 1924 to Francis McKinley Blevins and Gertrude Early Blevins. He was one of six children. He attended Bartlesville Schools. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War Two. He then returned to Bartlesville and worked for Jim Woods Chevrolet Company where at the age of 27 he was made the Used Car Sales Manager. Mack appreciated the value of hard work selling newspapers for three cents a paper as a young boy, fixing flats for 75 cents a day at age 14 and helping his father in the oil field during his high school days. He worked for many years as an insurance adjuster. He then became a real estate broker opening his own real estate agency.
In 1950 he married Bettie Jane Crowder and they were married 35 years until she died in 1985. They had three children together. Mack enjoyed fishing and spending many hours with his family at their cabin at Grand Lake. He loved to build things and collect "junk". He always said, "one man's junk was another man's treasure." He loved to cook on his grill which he eventually patented. Smoking cheese and giving it to friends and family was a favorite pastime.
Mack married Kathlene Moreland, a local realtor, on December 28, 1985 at Happy Hill Church. They established Mack Blevins and Moreland Realtors in Bartlesville. He continued in real estate and other business ventures until he retired in 2005.
Mack was a prominent area businessman. He was a very special man with a wonderful, positive outlook on life. He loved singing and playing his harmonica in area nursing homes and with his friends. He loved playing with his grandchildren and telling stories of his military service, and his time aboard ships, in every detail. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Kathlene, of the home, his three children, daughter Marcia and Tom Karns of Stillwater, OK. Son Lynn Blevins and his wife Terri, of Eucha OK. Pam Blevins of Stillwater, OK. 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 stepchildren. Stepsons Randy Moreland and Billy Moreland. Stepdaughter Lisa Moreland and Fred Hagebusch. Stepdaughter Teresa and Mike Diller, all of Bartlesville. And stepdaughter Penny and Ray Manning of Katy, TX. 6 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday August 7, 2012 in the Life Church of Bartlesville, under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial has been established and those who wish to make a contribution in memory of Mack may do so to: Legacy Building Fund C/O Life Church 1607 Swan Dr. Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.

I remember the days when I was young when we would be working in the oil fields with your brother Fred and my daddy Freddie, and my uncle Jimmy. You are a great man and thank you for all you taught me in my younger years. Your Great Nephew Robert Blevins

I was blessed to grow up next door to the Blevins and it was Mack who interested me in selling real estate. I have been a Realtor for many years now and thank God for the Blevins family. I will always think of Mack fondly. I am sorry I am unable to attend his service. Tracy Wallace Saenz
