Charles & Marilee Scott Obituary

Charles and Marilee Scott, both 85, of Bartlesville, shared more than 62 years of loving marriage together before passing on the same day, Tuesday, Jan. 23, from a recent illness. The high school sweethearts were classmates who fell in love and grew up together. They were united in marriage on March 12, 1955, in Okla. City, and the couple raised their only daughter Rene Scott who now lives in Houston.
Charles Neil Scott was born in Shawnee, OK, to Horace and Una Scott on April 19, 1932. At a young age, his family moved to Oklahoma City where he attended Classen High School. He furthered his studies at the Univ. of Oklahoma in Norman and joined the ROTC program (Reserve Officers' Training Corps). After graduating with his bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Charles started working for Phillips Petroleum Co. He then served in the Army Corps of Engineers, spending two years in Germany. Throughout his 38-year career, Charles was assigned to various locations before finally retiring from Phillips in 1992 in Bartlesville. On Charles' side of the family, he is survived by his sister Anne Boydston of Oklahoma City.
Marilee Evans was born in Dallas, TX to Charlie Evans and Mildred Christian Evans Dec. 21, 1932. Like Charles, Marilee and her family moved to Oklahoma City to be close to family. She also attended Classen High School. Marilee accompanied Charles during his military duty in Germany before returning home to Oklahoma. She was a dedicated homemaker and an active member of her community. They volunteered at the MUTUAL Girls Club (Methodists United to Use Applied Love) and at their East Cross Methodist church. She loved to read and take care of her flowers, especially her favorite roses and maroon bluebonnets. On Marilee's side of the family, she is survived by her sister JoAnn and her husband Don Spindler of Stillwater, OK, as well as two special nieces and their families Kaylee Peracha of Houston, and Karen Hinton of Stillwater OK.
Throughout their lives, Charles and Marilee enjoyed spending their time together. They enjoyed sunshine, sand and looking for shark's teeth. When they were home, they were active members of the Friday Night Dinner Group. The Scott's were especially close to special friends Ron and Lisa Kennedy and their children Braden and Rosston.
The family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Monday, January 29, from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The MUTUAL Girls Club, P.O. Box 2405, Bartlesville, OK 74005.
Funeral services for both Charles and Marilee Scott will be held Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. at East Cross Methodist Church in Bartlesville, with Rev. Chad Perceful officiating. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home.
