Noel Kaiser Obituary

Noel Edgar Kaiser, age 81, born in Weatherford, Oklahoma, went peacefully to his heavenly home on September 11, 2016, after a short illness. Beloved husband of Phoebe (Redelsperger) Heil. Loving father of Timothy (Alexis) Kaiser of Cyril and Stacy (Guy) Curttright of Edmond. Loving step-father of Paula (Brent) Wade of Amarillo, Shanon (Dennis) Swinney of Amarillo, and Shaun (Elise) Heil of Amarillo. Adored grandfather of Sarah (Jesse) Wagner, Michael, and Rachel Kaiser and Dillon Curttright. Adored step-grandfather of Trianna, Marika, Cyril, Nichole, Jared, Bradley, Megan, Alex, Nick, Jon. Treasured great-grandfather of Elijah, and seven step-great-grandchildren: Caitlyn, Lorelai, Savannah, Sebastian, AveriDee, Brody, and Noah.
Noel was previously married to Maxine (Tinney) Kaiser, the mother of his children, until her death in 1996.
Son of the late Clara (nee Sauer) Kaiser and Edward Kaiser of Weatherford. Cherished brother of the late Vernice (Mary Lou) Kaiser, the late Juanita (the late Arvel) Hintchel, and the late Rodney (Deanna) Kaiser. Noel was a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the University of Michigan.
It is without a doubt that the celestial choir is now tuned up a bit more precisely since gaining earth's best vocal music director and sweetest-sounding first tenor. As a music teacher and choral director, he sowed a love of music into the lives in the students he taught and conducted, including at Seiling Schools, Geary Schools, Sooner High School in Bartlesville, and Bartlesville Middle Schools. He was also Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in Bartlesville and Highland Park in Bartlesville, and director of music at numerous other churches in the areas where he lived.
He was known by his students as the beloved "Mr. K." From 1969 on, his Sooner Concert Choir's annual Christmas time concert performances of "The Messiah" were a well-known holiday family event that packed auditoriums. He began a legacy of spring musicals in 1970 that quickly became all-school events that sold out all performances months in advance. His Concert Choir performed all over the US including twice at the Rotunda of the United States Capitol and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. His students continued to gather at choir reunions for years after his retirement to recreate the beautiful songs of the Concert Choir, and to be once again in the presence of their teacher and mentor. "Mr. K." ended every single concert performance of the choir with a rousing rendition of "Oh Happy Day" where he sang the lead with his faithful student choir as his backup. He also taught the Bartlesville Middle School Choir and served as the Chair of the Music Departments for all Bartlesville Schools for many years.
A scholarship honoring Mr. Kaiser has been established through the Bartlesville Community Foundation named the "Noel Kaiser 'Oh Happy Day' Scholarship". The scholarship will be presented annually to a Bartlesville High School student who intends to study music in college. Please send memorial donations to the Bartlesville Community Foundation 208 E 4th St, Bartlesville, OK 74003.
Family visitation and viewing will be held Wednesday, September 14 from 6-8pm at Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Funeral is Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Weatherford with a dessert and ice cream fellowship immediately following the service. Interment will be at 4:30 at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr.Kaiser I could never call him Noel since he was my choir teacher and choir leader at church. He was an excellent music man and Christian. His voice was so soothing. I have wonderful memories of him as hundreds of students and friends do. The family is in my prayers Patricia(Belcher)Metcalf

I met Mr. Kaiser when I was in the 8th grade at Madison Middle School, where he taught for the last 5 years of his career. I remember when we did a selection of pieces from "Fiddler on the Roof" in a non competitive chorus he conducted, and liked it so much, that I bought the soundtrack the very next weekend. Later that semester, I was put into the Select Choir, and have been hooked ever since! Currently, I am in my 15th season with the Tulsa Oratorio Chorus, preparing a memorized concert of Bluegrass music! I also remember opening the door for him when our paths crossed on lunch breaks, and he said that I would one day be a "doorman at a big, ritzy hotel!" Well, Mr. Kaiser, I know that Saint Peter opened wide the gate for you, and that the tenor section of the Heavenly choir is sounding even better now that you have taken your place among them!
