Eva Diane Young, 66, of a retired Bartlesville Police Officer, died at 10:15 A.M. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 in Bartlesville.
A Rosary will be held at 7 P.M. on Wednesday in the Stumpff funeral Home Chapel. Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with full honors accorded by the Bartlesville Police Department Honor Guard. Memorial services and cremation are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Eva Diane Young was born in Coon Rapids, Iowa on April 29, 1947 the daughter of Clair Vernon and Winona Jane (Whitten) Walsh. She grew up and received her education in Arizona where she moved with her family at the age of 10. She graduated from Seton Hall High School in Chandler, Arizona and then attended Mesa Community College where she earned her Paralegal and was then employed with a law firm in Mesa, Arizona. She entered the United States Marine Corps in 1970 and received avionics training and was then assigned to a Marine Corps JAG office where she served until receiving her Honorable Discharge in 1973. She was married to Michael Jerome Young in 1974 and they made their home at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro until moving to Bartlesville in 1976. Diane was employed with the Washington County Sheriff's Office under Sheriff Glen Codding for three years until 1981 when she became a police officer with the Bartlesville Police Department where she faithfully served until retiring as an Investigator in March of 2002. She moved to Mesa, Arizona to care for her parents until returning to Bartlesville in February 2014 due to ill health. She was a member of the Bartlesville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 117, a member of the police department's Critical Response Team, a member of the Bartlesville Downtown Lions Club, Victim's Advocacy with the District Attorney's office and the St. John Catholic Church in Bartlesville and the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Meza, Arizona.
Survivors include four sons, Steven J. Young of Del City, Oklahoma, Kevin J. Young of Skiatook, Okla., Jason E. Young and wife Robin of Corpus Christi, Texas and Shawn M. Young and wife Carrie of Bartlesville, her mother, Winona Jane Walsh of Bartlesville, three sisters, Mary Jane Walsh of Mesa, Arizona, Elaine Walsh Alex of Syracuse, New York and Doris Walsh Alley and husband Lee of Rosharon, Texas , one brother, Dennis Walsh of Mesa, Arizona, 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father.
