James C. "Jim" Allen, 76, of Bartlesville, died Monday, August 4, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services for Mr. Allen will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, August 8, 2014 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Paul Fiddler officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Funeral services and interment will be directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
The Allen family will receive guests for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
Mr. Allen was born at LaGrange, Arkansas on March 10, 1938 to James Thomas Allen and Mary Lucille (Horton) Allen. He grew up in the area around LaGrange, Arkansas and graduated from high school at Marianna, Arkansas. He entered the U.S. Navy in June of 1955 and served with them until February 1959. Following his Honorable Discharge he came to Bartlesville to make his home. He began his employment as a machinist with Reda Pump and remained there until his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement he remained active in woodworking, working on cars and John Deere tractors and as a handyman for local businesses and friends and family. He was married to Diana Louise Weber on February 27, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they have made their home in Bartlesville since that time. Mr. Allen was a past member of the American Legion.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Diana Allen of the home in Bartlesville, one son, Ron E. Allen of Collinsville, one daughter, Becky L. Tomlinson of Irving, Texas, one brother, Charles H. Allen and wife Sally of Huntsville, Alabama, two grandchildren, Ashlee Allen and Ryan Tomlinson, cousins, Donnie Casteel and Connie Casteel both of Bartlesville, and a niece, Elizabeth Sanders of Arab, Alabama. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Allen.
Pallbearers for Mr. Allen will include Benny McClintock, Gary Friend, Donald Proctor, Sonny Kite, Emmett Ruble and John Shepherd. Honorary pallbearers will include Kenneth Durst and Jack Duede.
A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Washington County SPCA, 16620 State Highway 123, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006.
