Mr. Johnnie E. Pappin, 88, of Bartlesville, retired former Deputy Sherriff and police officer, died at 12:45 a.m. on Friday June 20, in Bartlesville.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday June 23, 2014 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Steve Griffith Chaplain of the Cornerstone Hospice officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral home & Crematory.
Memorial Contribution may be made in his memory to the Journey Home 3406 S. E. Kentucky Ave. Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
Mr. Pappin was born on June 12, 1926 at Pawhuska, Oklahoma to John LaForce and Maggie (Gandy) Pappin. He was raised and received his education at Pawhuska where he graduated high school. Following his graduation he worked for a few years with his brother-in-law as a cabinet maker, where he acquired his love for woodworking. He was later employed first as a police officer, and the later as a Sherriff's Deputy for the Ford County Sherriff's Office in Dodge City, Kansas. He was married to Margaret Chitwood on March 15, 1971 at Howard Kansas. He was well known for his woodcarving, and woodworking abilities, being said that he could" make anything or fix anything". And was also known as an excellent artist.
Mr. Pappin is survived by his wife Margaret of the home in Bartlesville, by three daughters Maggie Lozano and husband Jerry, of Gunnison Colorado, Sherry Hughes of Pawhuska, OK. and Karen Pappin of Louisiana, by two sons; Eugene Chitwood of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Robert Pappin of Pawhuska, and five grandchildren; Cody Chitwood, Zachary Chitwood, Joshua Chitwood, Jerry Lozano Jr. and Joseph Lozano. Mr. Pappin was preceded in death by his parents, and by two sons; John Patrick Pappin and Michael Pappin, and a grandson Austin Chitwood, and a granddaughter Emily Lozano.
