Larry Jay Burger, 56, of Copan, passed away Saturday morning at the Ambassador Manor Nursing Center in Tulsa.
Larry was born the son of Sylvester A. Burger and Jerry F. (Yoakum) Burger on June 28, 1958, in Carmel, CA. He was raised and educated in Carmel, and graduated in 1976. Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Private First Class until 1979 when he was honorably discharged.
Larry loved the outdoors, especially going fishing with his brother Steve, and he was a major help around the Burger property in Copan. He relished spending the day with his beloved nephews and nieces. Whether riding roller coasters at his favorite park Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, or simply going on tractor rides with his nieces and grandnephews, Larry enjoyed the company of his friends and family. Larry was kind to all animals and had two cats Jerf and Brooke to keep him company. He is now at ease and will be greatly missed.
Larry is survived by his mother Jerry Burger of Bartlesville; sister Kathi DePompa and David of Pine Top, AZ.; sister-in-law Yvonne Burger of Copan; four nieces Arica Haywood and Gary of Bartlesville, Lisa O'Rourke and John of Bartlesville, Lea George and Isiah of Jackson, LA., Destiny Chavez of Mesa, AZ.; two nephews Zeke Burger and Stacie of Owasso, David DePompa Jr. of Pine Top, AZ.; and a host of other family and friends. Larry will be greatly missed by all. He is preceded in death by his father Sylvester and brother Steve.
Larry's family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Tues., Aug. 5, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Wed, Aug. 6, in the Chapel of the Davis Family Funeral Home with clergy Randy Gamble officiating. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by James T. Teel American Legion Post 105 Honor Guard.
