Mr. Phillips was born in Bartlesville on June 21, 1939 to William Dale and Frances (Shaffer) Phillips. He grew up in Wann and attended Copan High School where he graduated in 1957. While at Copan High School he was a highly skilled football player who was highly recruited by a number of major colleges, but elected to stay home and work to assist his family. He was married to Sue Dean in 1958 at Nowata. They moved to Wann to make their home in 1960 and have made their home in Wann since that time. He was employed with COOP (which later became Farmland Industries) in 1963 and worked for them in the oil field as a gauger and a welder. He retired from Farmland in 2001 and was employed by the state park system for a year at Hulah Lake. For the past 10 years he has been employed by BRATCO and he had also been active as an independent oil producer. The highlights of Bill's life were his marriage to Sue, his children, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud. He was the family's foundation and "Hero". He loved to camp and be the camp cook, loved to pheasant hunt, loved to garden and had an unmatched work ethic. Bill was also a proud member of the Ridin' for the Brand Cowboy Church in Wann.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sue of the home in Wann, four children, son, Keith Phillips and his wife Patty and granddaughter, Tricia Lee of Copan, daughter, Cheryl Barnett and husband Ernie and grandsons, Mike Davis and Trent Barnett of Pawhuska, daughter, Brenda Seals and husband Lanny of Dewey, daughter, Joyce Norman of Dewey and grandsons, Brandon Sanders and wife Alicia and great grandchildren, Brock and Avery, two sisters, Frances Berry of Bartlesville and Kathryn Casebourne of Copan and numerous nieces and nephews.
