Bruce Edward Ewers, 95, of Bethany, OK, died April 6, 2013.
He was a longtime resident of Bartlesville, OK, and retiree of Phillips Petroleum Co. He was born February 4, 1918, in Harlan County, Nebraska to W. Glover and Louisa (Codding) Ewers.
He married Camille Evans July 4, 1942 in Borger, Texas. Bruce worked nearly 42 years in the Engineering Dept. of Phillips, retiring January 31, 1983 as Manager of Electrical Design and Power Contracts. He was a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers, and the National Society of Professional Engineers. While working, he was a member of API (American Petroleum Institute) Subcommittee on Electrical Equipment and Chemical Manufacturers Association Electrical Codes and Standards Group. He also served on the National Fire Protection Association National Electric Code Panel 14. He was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Bartlesville, and served on the church board 40 years and as church treasurer 39 years, in addition to being a Sunday school teacher and working on various building projects.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Camille Ewers; brother, Roy Ewers; and sisters, Edith Loar, Mable Salyers and Virginia Smith.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Karen Ewers, and son, Carl Ewers, all of Yukon, OK; grandchildren, Brent and Samantha Ewers, Laramie, WY, Sherry and David Izell, Mustang, OK, Bryan Ewers, OKC, and Keegan and Lisa Ewers, Edmond, OK; great-grandchildren, Braeden and Loden Ewers, Laramie, WY, Janessa Izell, Mustang, OK, and Allison Ewers, Edmond, OK; sisters, Marilyn Meyer and husband Rollie, Davis CA, Dorothy Thengvall and husband Phil, Wichita, KS; and several cousins, many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Thursday, 9am-9pm, with the family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Friday, April 12, 2:00pm at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
